FourFourtwo is reporting that a Simpsons spinoff series titled “The Simpsons New Season” is set to debut next year, with a premiere date being revealed shortly after its premiere.
The series, which is described as “a new take on the classic sitcom, with new humor and an entirely new cast of characters,” is set in the future where the world is controlled by an AI and has a new breed of supercomputer.
The show will feature “some of the most hilarious characters on TV and a whole new set of jokes that you’ll never see on the show” in an attempt to keep the “funny” elements “in the back of your head.”
The series will reportedly be set in New York City in the near future.
The network’s report follows on a new report from The Wrap saying that the network is looking to reboot the classic Simpsons TV show.
According to the Wrap, the network has yet to finalize a show’s script but is looking for an original series that “will live up to its legacy and be the best thing ever.”
